Plan at a glance

Entrance, tickets and opening hours

Baodugu National Forest Park is in Beizhuang Town, Shanting District, Zaozhuang. The East Gate is the usual entrance. Peak season is April–October, with a reference ticket price of CNY 60 per person, hours of 08:30–16:30 and last entry at 16:00. The off-season is November through March, with a reference ticket price of CNY 40 and hours of 08:30–16:00. Students can receive half-price admission with a student ID.

Enter on site with an ID card; no advance reservation is required. The park combines mountain paths, the summit, sightseeing shuttles, a cableway and a slide, so the route depends on whether you plan to hike to the summit.

How much time to allow

A 2–3 hour easier route takes the sightseeing shuttle from the East Gate to the hiking entrance, uses the cableway to go up, visits the summit and glass walkway, and returns by the cableway or slide if available. A 4–6 hour route follows forest paths on foot through Sanqing Temple and the Stairway to the summit, then descends from the other side.

The cableway and slide may finish operation around 17:00, depending on the day. Visitors who need a downhill facility should plan the return before setting out for the summit.

Choose your visit

Summit, forest paths and glass walkway

The summit viewing platform and “The First Crag in the World” stone stele are the main endpoints of the mountain route. The glass walkway fits after the summit. Sanqing Temple is along the mountain path and works as a mid-route stop; the 115th Division Memorial Park can be added as a nearby historical extension.

The sightseeing shuttle and cableway reduce the uphill walking, while the hiking route passes the forest paths, Sanqing Temple and the Stairway. Choose the glass slide or cableway for the descent according to the facilities operating that day.

Who it suits

Hikers and mountain walkers can choose the 4–6 hour route. Photographers can use the summit, glass walkway, forest and bamboo groves as separate stops along the climb. Families can use the shuttle and cableway to reduce the steps, but the route still includes walking around the mountain stations and paths.

Visitors interested in revolutionary history can add the 115th Division Memorial Park to the mountain day. Check whether it is open and whether it fits the route before making it part of the plan.

Build your day

2–3 hour easier route

Enter through the East Gate, take the sightseeing shuttle to the hiking entrance, ride the cableway up, and visit the summit, “The First Crag in the World” stone stele and glass walkway. Then choose the glass slide or cableway down according to the day's operation.

This route reduces the uphill walking, but the summit and glass walkway still require walking. Queues for the cableway, slide and shuttle affect the total time; confirm the last downhill service before returning.

4–6 hour hiking route

Enter through the East Gate and follow the forest paths uphill through Sanqing Temple and the Stairway to the summit. After visiting the summit, descend from the other side and add the 115th Division Memorial Park if time and energy allow.

The hiking route has many steps and limited supply points, so bring enough water. If you arrive in the afternoon, finish the summit and descent first, then decide whether to add the memorial park or another extension.

Combining Xionger Mountain

Baodugu and Xionger Mountain can be visited in one driving trip, but they have separate tickets and entrances. Baodugu focuses on the summit and mountain forest; Xionger Mountain focuses on the Double Dragon Rift and narrow geological passages. Plan the two routes separately.

If you visit both in one day, decide which site needs the full mountain route and make the other a short visit or move it to the second day. Mountain-road travel and each park's last-entry time must be calculated separately.

Get there

To the East Gate

Drivers can navigate to “Baodugu National Forest Park” and follow signs toward the East Gate. From central Zaozhuang, travel to Shanting District and then transfer to a scenic-area shuttle or take a taxi. Public transport is infrequent, so a half-day route needs time for the transfer.

Parking and movement inside the park

The park has a large parking area, with reference parking listed as free. Inside, visitors mainly use the sightseeing shuttle, cableway, slide and walking paths; the East Gate is the starting point for the easier route.

There may be walking between the mountain roads and parking area. Stone steps can be slippery after rain. Driving to nearby farm restaurants also involves mountain roads, so adjust your speed to the road conditions.

Know before you go

Seasonal tickets and last entry

In peak season from April to October, the reference ticket is CNY 60, hours are 08:30–16:30 and last entry is at 16:00. In the off-season from November through March, the reference ticket is CNY 40 and hours end at 16:00. Students can receive half-price admission with a student ID, and visitors enter on site with an ID card.

The cableway and slide may close earlier than the outer park. Their reference end time is around 17:00; if you plan to use a facility for the descent, work backward from its last operating time.

Mountain walking and supplies

Stone steps, the Stairway and mountain paths are the main walking conditions. Wear non-slip walking shoes. Supply points are limited, so bring enough water and a small amount of food; older visitors and children can use the shuttle and cableway to reduce the effort.

Baodugu and Xionger Mountain can be combined, but their terrain and physical demands differ. Calculate the Baodugu climb in the morning and the Xionger Mountain rift route in the afternoon as separate activities.
