Location, admission and opening hours

Taierzhuang War Memorial Museum is at No. 6 Guyun Road, in the southwest suburbs of Taierzhuang and about 2 km from Taierzhuang Ancient Town. Admission is free and no reservation is required, but you must present your ID card for admission. Reference hours are 08:30–17:00, with last admission at 16:30. The museum is closed on Mondays except public holidays.

The museum is a separate venue outside the ancient town. Allow 1.5–2 hours for a visit. If you combine it with the ancient town or Li Zongren Historical Archive Museum, calculate each venue's closing time separately.

What to see

The main visit includes the Memorial Square, 38 steps, the War History Exhibition Hall, the panoramic painting hall “The Battle of Taierzhuang,” the Tomb of Unknown Heroes and the Martyrs' Wall. The 38 steps refer to the year 1938, and the Memorial Square is a practical starting point for a clockwise route.

Choose your visit

War history and the panoramic painting hall

The War History Exhibition Hall presents the course of the battle through historical photographs, artefacts and related footage. “The Battle of Taierzhuang” panoramic painting hall uses large-scale images, sculpted ground forms, lighting and surround sound; it is the indoor section to prioritize.

The Tomb of Unknown Heroes and the Martyrs' Wall are part of the exterior route and work well after the indoor exhibition. The visit is about connecting the battle background, historical displays and memorial spaces, rather than shortening the exhibition time for photography.

Who it suits

Visitors interested in the history of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Battle of Taierzhuang and modern military history can treat this as a separate historical museum outside the ancient town. Families and study groups can start at the Memorial Square, continue through the history displays and panoramic hall, and finish at the Martyrs' Wall.

The museum is a solemn memorial site and deserves a quiet visit. Food choices nearby are limited, so return to Taierzhuang Ancient Town or the urban area for a meal.

Build your day

1.5–2 hour clockwise route

Start at the Memorial Square, climb the 38 steps and enter the War History Exhibition Hall. Continue to “The Battle of Taierzhuang” panoramic painting hall, then finish at the Tomb of Unknown Heroes and the Martyrs' Wall. This order reduces backtracking and connects the indoor displays with the exterior memorial spaces.

If you plan to read the historical material in detail or wait for entry to the panoramic hall, put that time inside the museum rather than spending the visit at the entrance steps. Last admission is at 16:30; arrive earlier and allow time for ID checks and entry.

Combining the ancient town and Li Zongren museum

The museum can be visited before or after Taierzhuang Ancient Town, and Li Zongren Historical Archive Museum can be added on the same day. Each venue has its own admission rules. When the War Memorial Museum is closed on Monday, the public streets of the ancient town may still be visited according to their own arrangements.

For a full-day combination, finish the two museums first and then spend the afternoon and evening in the ancient town. The public streets may remain open at night even after the two museums have stopped admitting visitors.

Get there

From Zaozhuang Railway Station

From Zaozhuang Railway Station, take BRT B10 to the Taierzhuang Ancient Town Visitor Center, then walk or transfer onward to the museum. Drivers should navigate directly to “Taierzhuang War Memorial Museum”; navigating only to the ancient town can add time spent finding the museum entrance.

Driving and parking

There is parking near the museum, but holiday congestion is possible. When nearby spaces are limited, you can consider parking at the larger Taierzhuang Ancient Town East Gate Parking Lot and walking about 700–800 meters to the museum; the actual walking path and parking situation depend on the day.

The exterior square and steps are part of the walking route, so flat shoes are more suitable. If you also visit the ancient town, note the car park and its exit separately and follow the parking arrangement for the return journey.

Know before you go

Photography and visitor conduct

Photography is prohibited inside the museum. Do not plan photography of the indoor displays, panoramic painting or sculptures. Exterior buildings and the Memorial Square may be photographed where the site allows it.

This is a solemn memorial site. Keep quiet and follow the venue's visitor rules. Indoor displays are for viewing and reading; do not touch the exhibits.

Opening hours and food

Reference hours are 08:30–17:00, with last admission at 16:30. The museum is closed on Mondays except public holidays. Confirm the opening arrangement for your planned date, especially during a holiday.

Food choices near the museum are limited, so combine lunch or dinner with Taierzhuang Ancient Town or the urban area. If you arrive late in the afternoon, confirm that admission is still possible before continuing to the ancient town.
