Allow one to two hours for Bao Gong Cultural Park
Bao Gong Temple is at No. 22 Changpai Street in Chengxi, Duanzhou District. Use “Zhaoqing Bao Gong Cultural Park” for navigation. Allow 1–2 hours for the visit. Add the ancient city wall, Piyun Tower and Qilou Street and you have a practical half-day route.
The park opens Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00–17:00, with last entry at 16:00. It is closed on Mondays. Entry is free, but you should reserve through the “Wenlv Lvma” or “Zhaoqing Bao Gong Cultural Park” mini-program. When visitor numbers are low, on-site QR registration may be possible, but you still need the original ID card.
The garden, exhibitions and river view follow one route
Qingxin Garden, the Bao Gong Temple galleries, Bao Gong Cultural Museum and the Xijiang viewing platform are the main stops. There are slopes and steps, so even though the park is not very large, older visitors and children need time to rest.
Parking at the cultural park is free, and the listed spaces are usually sufficient. Drivers can leave the car in one place and walk through the whole park instead of moving repeatedly between several Duanzhou attractions.

One hour: gate, main hall and Qingxin Garden
Archway gate → main hall → Qingxin Garden → culture street → return. This short route covers the Bao Gong statue, Lingnan garden scenery and the imitation-Song buildings. It works for visitors who want a light walk or have limited time.
Qingxin Garden has winding paths, water features and the remains of Bao Gong Well, so it is worth slowing down there. The main hall and garden have different rhythms; do not treat the temple only as a place to photograph the entrance.
1.5–2 hours: exhibitions and the Xijiang River
Follow the archway, Bao Gong Temple galleries, Qingxin Garden exhibition, Bao Gong Cultural Museum, Xiyan Pavilion and the Xijiang viewing platform. The galleries include wax-scene reconstructions, Bao Gong history, opera and puppetry displays. Families and visitors interested in history can choose different sections according to their interests.
Leave the river platform for the end, after the indoor galleries. Last entry is 16:00, so do not leave the river view and all photography until the final minutes.
1.5 hours: a traditional-style photography route
Qingxin Garden → red walls of the main hall → culture street → Xiyan Pavilion. The garden, water and imitation-Song buildings have softer light later in the afternoon, especially around 16:00.
Check the photography notices before taking pictures. Flash is prohibited inside the galleries, and some exhibits and set pieces cannot be touched. Plain clothing or modern Chinese-style clothing works well, but wear shoes suitable for slopes and steps.
Build your day
Deep route: from the temple to the river
Archway → main and side halls → Qingxin Garden exhibition → Bao Gong Cultural Museum → Xiyan Pavilion → Xijiang viewing platform → return. The route moves from architecture and displays to the river with little backtracking.
The main hall contains a statue of Bao Gong, while the side halls and museum add historical context. The cultural museum has film, wax and multimedia material. With children, choose the sections that hold their attention instead of stopping at every interactive display.
Garden route: put Qingxin Garden in the middle
Archway gate → main hall → Qingxin Garden → culture street → Xiyan Pavilion → viewing platform. Qingxin Garden is the place to slow down. Leave a few pauses between the red walls, winding paths and water features rather than trying to photograph everything at the entrance.
The pavilion and viewing platform lead toward the exit. When it is busy, do not occupy a narrow passage for a long photo session. Walk the route first, then return to an open area for photographs.
Combine it with the Duanzhou old city
Bao Gong Temple in the morning → lunch on Qilou Street or Zhengxi Road → the ancient city wall and Piyun Tower in the afternoon → old-city lights in the evening. Bao Gong Temple is about 1.3 km from the city wall, with a taxi ride listed at around five minutes.
If you also want to visit Yuejiang Tower, put it in another part of the day. Several Duanzhou museums and historic buildings have similar opening hours, so deal with reservations, original ID documents and last-entry times first.
Get there
Park at Bao Gong Cultural Park
Use “Bao Gong Cultural Park Parking Lot.” Parking is free and the listed spaces are usually sufficient. From Zhaoqing Railway Station, a taxi takes about 10–15 minutes. From Zhaoqing East Railway Station, take the K01 route and change to route 20, or use the city buses and tourist sightseeing line serving Bao Gong Cultural Park.
The bus stop is about 200 metres from the park. A taxi can be easier with children or luggage, but the reservation and original-ID requirements still apply.
Transfer to other attractions after leaving
Bao Gong Temple, the city wall, Piyun Tower and Qilou Street are close enough to connect by walking in sections or by a short taxi ride. Decide where you want to eat in the evening before leaving the park, so you do not return to the parking lot unnecessarily.
Free parking does not mean all-day entry. Keep the 16:00 last-entry time in the plan. If you arrive late, use the riverside and exterior walking areas as optional additions rather than squeezing the galleries into a few minutes.
Know before you go
Monday, ID and reservation
The park is closed on Mondays, and last entry from Tuesday to Sunday is 16:00. A mini-program reservation or on-site registration may be available, but an original ID card is still required. A phone screenshot is not a substitute.
If you want commentary or the electronic displays, ask at the visitor centre after entering. Talks and interactive displays depend on the day’s operation, so do not build the itinerary around one fixed activity.
Photography and footing
Flash photography is prohibited inside the galleries, and some exhibits and set pieces cannot be touched. Certain rooms are dim, so slow down at corners, slopes and steps, and do not let children run indoors.
09:00–11:00 is usually quieter. Weekend tour groups are more common in the afternoon. Bring a bottle of water, but use Qilou Street or Zhengxi Road for a full meal and local snacks.
