Use it as the core stop on the Dafang history route
Guizhou Xuanwei Mansion is the most concentrated stop in Dafang County for understanding the Shuixi Tusi system, Lady Shexiang, and Yi political culture. Budget CNY 60 for the ticket. Use 09:00-17:30 for planning, with last entry at 17:00.
Tip:If you also plan to visit Shexiang Museum that day, see the museum first and then come here; the background will be clearer.

Follow the Nine-Layer Yamen upward
The main structure is the "Nine-Layer Yamen," arranged step by step up the slope. Walk upward along the central axis to understand the building hierarchy, courtyard layout, and Tusi administrative space.
Tip:The point here is the architecture and historical context, not a lively commercial street.

Pair it with Shexiang Museum if possible
If time allows, use Shexiang Museum first for background on Lady Shexiang and the Shuixi Tusi system, then visit Guizhou Xuanwei Mansion for the architecture. The reverse order also works, but do not treat the two sites as one entrance.
Tip:Shexiang Museum is free, while Guizhou Xuanwei Mansion is separate, so check navigation carefully.

Dafang County is the easiest base
From Dafang Station, the mansion is a short taxi ride. You can also use taxis or local bus connections within Dafang County. It fits well with Mu'ege Ancient City and Shexiang Museum on the same day.
Tip:This route works best as a slow 2-3 hour history stop, not as something forced into the same day as Hezhang or Zhijin.
