Blocky lava platforms
The geological interpretation dates the blocky lava platform to roughly 280,000–340,000 years ago. The accumulated rocks form a continuous lava sea. Designated sections of the route cross the lava surface instead of using boardwalks, allowing closer views of the lava ponds and rock forms. On boardwalk sections through the lava, compare the black rocks with the forest and leave room for other visitors when stopping for photos.
Forest short loop
The short loop is about 2 km and takes roughly 1–1.5 hours, mainly along forest boardwalks with gentler slopes. It suits a shorter visit or anyone who would rather not walk directly on the lava surface while still seeing the meeting point of the lava and forest.
Lava long loop and summit viewpoint
The long loop is about 3.7 km and takes roughly 2–3 hours. Some sections cross blocky lava directly, and the route reaches a summit viewpoint near the end for a view over the lava sea. Uneven rock surfaces suit visitors who walk steadily and have enough time.
Build your day
Quick loop: forest boardwalk
Enter beside the ticket office and follow the short-loop boardwalk. After viewing the rocks in the forest, complete the loop back to the entrance; the route is about 2 km and takes 1–1.5 hours. Confirm that the full short loop is open that day, then follow the signs.
Full loop: lava route to the summit
Follow the long-loop signs from the entrance, cross the lava sea, reach the summit viewpoint, and continue around the loop back to the entrance. The route is about 3.7 km and takes 2–3 hours. If the rocks are wet after rain or your energy drops, follow the signs back or switch to the gentler forest loop; stay on open paths throughout.
Make it a separate stop
Longmen Stone Village is far from Wenpo and Beiyin Spring, so it works best as a separate morning or afternoon stop. If you want to combine attractions, check the drive between them and each site’s last-entry time first. See the Wudalianchi Scenic Area overview for the wider-area choices.
Get there
Navigation and parking
Navigate to “Longmen Stone Village Scenic Area Parking Lot” or “Longmen Stone Village Ticket Office”; the entrance is nearby. The scenic area has a parking lot. Attractions in Wudalianchi are spread out, so driving or arranging a return vehicle in advance is more practical than planning to walk between them.
Ticket office and entry time
Buy the ticket at the ticket office. Leave time to walk from the parking area to the entrance, then follow the day’s on-site arrangement for entry.
Know before you go
Entry time and choosing a loop
The documents accepted for the free ticket for visitors aged 65 and over have not been specified. Foreign passport holders should ask the ticket office whether they qualify. The long loop normally takes 2–3 hours and 16:00 is the last entry time; arrive earlier if you want the long route. If time is short, choose the short loop and follow the day’s route arrangement.
Surfaces and walking ability
The long loop includes lava surfaces, while the short loop is mainly boardwalk. Wear shoes with good grip and support. Step-free routes and rest facilities have not been specified; ask before entering if someone in your group has limited mobility.
Sun, water, and toilets
Some sections of the lava sea have no shade, so bring sun protection and enough drinking water. The toilet is near the entrance and supplies inside are limited; use the toilet before starting the loop and carry the snacks you need.
Wet rock and wildlife
Lava surfaces may be slippery after rain. Watch for wildlife and stay on the marked paths. Weather and trail maintenance can affect access, so confirm the loop status when entering.
Food in town
After the visit, look for mineral-water tofu or mineral-spring fish in the town outside the scenic area. Some restaurants charge by the jin; ask about the unit price, weighing, and cooking fee before ordering. Opening status around the scenic area follows the day’s conditions.
