Huanglongyan She Ethnic Culture Tourist Area is in Shanglan Village, Zhangxi She Township, Dongyuan County, Heyuan. Driving from the Pearl River Delta takes about two hours, or about one hour from Heyuan city for the roughly 50-kilometre trip; public transport is inconvenient, so self-driving or a pre-arranged chartered car is best.
The entrance ticket costs about CNY 40–45. A ticket with the via ferrata costs about CNY 98, while packages including the via ferrata, glass bridge and sightseeing elevator are sold separately. The usual hours are 09:00–17:00, with the cave and core attractions usually stopping entry at 16:30; advance reservations are not required, but online tickets can reduce waiting.

The underground cave
Huanglongyan Cave is about 68 metres deep, with stalactites and other formations; recorded temperatures inside are about 18–22°C, making it a useful summer escape for visitors interested in cave landscapes. The floor is wet and some steps are narrow and steep, so older visitors and children need close adult supervision.
The cloud via ferrata and glass suspension bridge
The via ferrata follows a sloping mountainside, while the 5D glass suspension bridge is about 288 metres long with a vertical height of about 168 metres. Both are paid outdoor attractions for visitors seeking a higher-adrenaline experience; visitors interested mainly in the cave and cultural exhibition do not need every project.
She culture and local experiences
Local She cultural content may include mountain songs, bamboo-pole dancing, black glutinous rice, chestnut meals and bamboo weaving, depending on the day. Treat these as local history, food and craft experiences rather than reducing She culture to a costume or performance label.
Build your day
A 2–3 hour relaxed cave visit
From the Visitor Centre, choose the day’s ticket and take the magic carpet uphill if it is included, visit Huanglongyan Cave, take the sightseeing elevator down and finish at the She Palace exhibition. Allow about 2–3 hours; confirm whether the magic carpet and elevator are included before buying.
A 3–4 hour via ferrata visit
After buying the project ticket, take the magic carpet uphill, complete Via Ferrata Line A or B, then cross the 5D glass suspension bridge and use the glass slide if it is open. The visit takes about 3–4 hours, but queues and project availability will affect the actual timing.
A 4–5 hour mountain-and-culture visit
If the water activity and performance are operating, you can combine the cave, the forest water slide, the glass slide, a She performance and a local meal in one day. Allow about 4–5 hours and leave time for queues and changing clothes; do not ignore the slippery cave and physical effort simply to complete every project.

Driving and parking
Drive to “Huanglongyan Visitor Centre”; the trip takes about two hours from the Pearl River Delta and about one hour from Heyuan city. Parking costs about CNY 10 per visit, usually with enough spaces and charging points; Guishan and Linzhai Ancient Village require separate driving legs.
High-speed rail and taxis
From Heyuan East Railway Station, a taxi to the scenic area takes about 50–60 minutes. The attraction is in a She township with limited public transport and few return taxis, so arrange the round trip in advance if you are not driving.

Paid project boundaries
The entrance ticket normally excludes the magic carpet, sightseeing elevator, glass bridge and slides. Buying only the entrance ticket may mean walking up and down a steep slope, so choose the package according to your fitness and interests rather than assuming that the full set is necessary.
Photography services, prints and digital files may cost extra. Ask about the price and what you receive before agreeing; the individual prices of the magic carpet and slide may also vary with the on-site arrangement.
Cave safety and performances
The cave floor is slippery, some steps are narrow and steep, and the escalator area may have an odour, so wear non-slip shoes; older visitors and children should be accompanied. She performances, chestnut meals and other interactive activities are subject to time or season and should not be treated as guaranteed programmes.
Arriving before about 14:00–15:00 gives you softer light and time for queues and the return trip. Chestnut meals are seasonal; restaurants inside the area and in Zhangxi Township should be chosen according to their actual opening status.
