Location and tickets

Yuewang Mountain Scenic Area is in Guzhu Town, Jiangdong New District, Heyuan, with the Yuewang Mountain Visitor Centre as the main entrance. Driving from the Pearl River Delta takes about 2–2.5 hours, and the area has free parking with charging points; public transport is inconvenient, while a taxi from Heyuan East Railway Station takes about 40–50 minutes.

The entrance ticket costs about CNY 30. Via ferrata A costs about CNY 128, B about CNY 168 and C about CNY 236, usually separate from the entrance ticket. The area opens from 08:00 to 17:00, stops entry at 16:00, and via ferrata participants should reach the start point by about 15:00–15:30; advance reservations are usually not required, but buying tickets online is recommended.

Choose your visit

Via ferrata

The Yuewang Mountain via ferrata follows an iron climbing route across a sky bridge, suspended walkway, rope bridge and rock face; Line A is about 420 metres long. It suits first-time high-altitude activity participants who are fit and comfortable with heights, but the lines have different difficulty and prices, so Line A should not be treated as representative of every course.

The suspended glass bridge

The glass bridge is about 188 metres long and crosses a canyon above Danxia cliffs. It is a separate paid experience; visitors with a strong fear of heights can stay on the ordinary paths or view it from outside, while opening, queues and package inclusion depend on the day.

Danxia paths and the easier mountain experience

Wooden cliff paths, red rock walls and green valleys create a mountain visit even without the high-altitude attractions. The easier option suits families, photographers and older companions, but it still involves slopes, sun and mountain paths rather than the flat conditions of a city park.

Build your day

A 2–3 hour relaxed walk

Start at the Visitor Centre, continue past Xiuzhutan, the maple path and the suspended walkway, view the glass bridge from outside, and then go to Yuewang Terrace before descending. The visit takes about 2–3 hours and suits visitors with limited time or older companions; even without the high-altitude attractions, allow for the mountain paths and descent.

A 3–4 hour via ferrata visit

Buy or confirm the via ferrata ticket at the Visitor Centre, walk uphill for about 20–30 minutes to the start point and take Line A; the B-line high jump and the glass slide are optional. Allow about 3–4 hours and confirm the open line, arrival time and descent arrangements before starting.

A 4–5 hour deep walk

Visitors who want more walking can use the back-mountain path to Qianfu Rock, Yuewang Summit, the cliff stairway, One-Line-Sky and the old fort site, then descend on the open route. This takes about 4–5 hours and suits hikers and outdoor visitors; in hot weather or when queues are long, there is no need to force the full route.

Get there

Driving and parking

Drive to “Yuewang Mountain Scenic Area”; the entrance has free parking, usually with plenty of spaces and charging points. Wanlv Valley and Taiping Ancient Street also have parking, but they are separate driving stops rather than places to connect on foot.

High-speed rail and taxis

From Shenzhen North to Heyuan East Railway Station, a taxi to the scenic area takes about 40–50 minutes. The mountain is remote and taxis are difficult to find nearby, so non-drivers should arrange a return vehicle or chartered car before travelling.

Know before you go

Tickets and time limits

The entrance ticket costs about CNY 30, while via ferrata Lines A, B and C are normally separate. Participants should reach the via ferrata start point by about 15:00–15:30; arriving too late in the afternoon may leave no time for the high-altitude activity, and public holidays can bring queues at the glass bridge and via ferrata.

Which via ferrata lines are operating and whether they suit beginners depend on the day’s conditions. Buying a package does not guarantee that every line will be available.

Equipment and supplies

Wear non-slip sports shoes, not flip-flops or sandals. High-altitude activities require the helmet and phone strap specified on site; lockers and phone straps may cost extra. There are no reliable toilets or small shops on the mountain, so bring dry food and at least 1.5 litres of drinking water.

The uphill section is exposed in summer, and the glass and metal attractions can add to the heat. Weekdays or quieter periods make queues easier to manage, but weather, project operation and on-site safety rules take priority over photography plans.
