Location, ticketing and opening pattern
Chongxu Ancient Temple is inside the Zhu Ming Cave area of Luofu Mountain, behind Bailian Lake and below Magu Peak. From the Luofu Mountain main gate, it is about a 10–15 minute walk.
The temple has no separate admission charge, but entering Luofu Mountain requires the main scenic-area ticket: CNY 54 for adults, or around CNY 43 online in advance. The temple is generally open from 8:00 to 17:00; plan to visit between 8:30 and 16:00, and avoid holiday peaks where possible.

1.5–2 hours: blessing and heritage route
Scenic-area gate → Bailian Lake → Chongxu Ancient Temple → Ge Hong Museum → Dongjiang Column Memorial Hall → exit. This is mostly flat and works for visitors who want Taoist architecture, museum stops and a gentle walk.
3–4 hours: cableway combination
Main Gate → Bailian Lake → Chongxu Ancient Temple → shuttle → cableway uphill → Eagle Beak Rock viewing platform → cableway down. It works well for first-time Luofu Mountain visitors who want both the temple and wider mountain views.
Short temple visit
From the main gate, walk through Bailian Lake to the temple, see the Three Pure Ones Hall, Changsheng Well, Medicine-Washing Pool and Huixian Bridge, then return the same way. Chongxu Ancient Temple is a lower-mountain heritage stop and does not need to be squeezed into the same tight schedule as a Feiyun Peak hike.

Order through the temple
Bailian Lake → mountain gate → Three Pure Ones Hall → Changsheng Well → Medicine-Washing Pool → Huixian Bridge. This direction covers the main halls, inscriptions, courtyards and water features without repeated walking.
Linking the history
The temple, Ge Hong-related sites, the alchemy-furnace remains and Medicine-Washing Pool form the main cultural thread. Continue to Ge Hong Museum for traditional-medicine and historical material. The 1945 Dongjiang Column command-post site can be included in the same lower-mountain route.
Continue uphill or finish
Visitors with time and energy can continue from the temple by shuttle and cableway to Eagle Beak Rock. For an easier visit, return to Bailian Lake and leave the scenic area. Always retain enough time for the cableway’s final descent.
Get there
High-speed rail and bus
Take high-speed rail to Luofu Mountain Station, transfer to bus 268 for the scenic-area gate, then walk in to the temple. The temple is inside the scenic area, so it is not a separate taxi destination.
Driving
Use Luofu Mountain Visitor Centre, Jiabaotian Parking Lot or the main-gate parking area, at around CNY 20 per day. Jiabaotian Parking Lot is about a five-minute walk from entry and is practical for the lower-mountain heritage route.

Tickets and site etiquette
Chongxu Ancient Temple is free once you have entered Luofu Mountain. Keep a quiet pace in the halls and do not touch religious fixtures or historic remains. Both indoor and outdoor paths can be slippery after rain.
Equipment and route choice
If you plan to continue uphill, carry 1.5–2 litres of water, simple food, non-slip shoes and a windproof layer. The cableway stops around 17:00–17:30; visitors with limited fitness should focus on the temple, Bailian Lake and the museums rather than forcing a summit route.
