Plan at a glance
Area, transport and opening pattern
Shuangyue Bay is in Gangkou Town, Huidong County, with East Bay and West Bay forming the wider resort area. The main planning anchors are Shuangyue Bay Viewing Platform, Sea Turtle Bay and Lovers’ Causeway. Public beaches and viewing platforms are generally free; Sea Turtle Bay costs CNY 30. Most individual sites operate around 8:30–17:30, while beaches remain accessible throughout the day.
The stops are spread out, so driving or renting an e-bike is practical. The drive from Guangzhou or Shenzhen takes about 1.5–2.5 hours; from Huidong Station or Huidongnan Station, a taxi takes about 30–40 minutes. E-bike rental inside the area is about CNY 50–80 per day.

2–3 hours: easy route
Shuangyue Bay Viewing Platform → Lovers’ Causeway. Start at Dashingshan for the twin-bay panorama, then move to Lovers’ Causeway for sunset over the water.
Two days and one night: first visit
On day one, visit Sea Turtle Bay’s cliff walk, Shuangyue Bay Viewing Platform, Lovers’ Causeway at sunset and Gangkou Market for seafood. On day two, see sunrise at Honghai Bay, then visit Rock Bar or Yidishui Library before returning. Splitting sunrise and sunset across two days gives the coast a more relaxed pace.
Family tidal-flat route
Blue Bay Beach or Chisha Tidal Flat Park → Vanke Beach → sunset on West Bay. Plan tidal-flat activity around low tide, and leave beach time for sand play, wading and breaks.
Build your day
Classic coastal route
Sea Turtle Bay → Shuangyue Bay Viewing Platform → Lovers’ Causeway → Gangkou Market. Complete Sea Turtle Bay and the viewing platform during their active hours, then use Lovers’ Causeway and the market for the evening.
Self-drive or e-bike loop
Shuangyue Bay Viewing Platform → Sea Turtle Bay → Lovers’ Causeway → coastal road. An e-bike reduces the effect of road controls, difficult taxis and parking waits between the scattered stops.
Photography and beach timing
Dashingshan works for sunrise, sunset and the twin-bay panorama. Honghai Bay is useful for an early coastal sunrise, while Rock Bar suits visitors with a larger budget who want to schedule sunset photography from around 16:00.
Get there
High-speed rail and local movement
From Huidong Station or Huidongnan Station, taxis take about 30–40 minutes and cost around CNY 80–100. Renting an e-bike in town is more flexible than relying on taxis for a coastal itinerary.
Driving and parking
Parking at individual stops is around CNY 10–20 per day; use P6 near Sea Turtle Bay where possible. On weekends, leave before 8:00 to reduce mountain-road congestion and parking pressure.
Know before you go
Seafood, accommodation and parking
Buy seafood at Gangkou Market in the morning, then agree weighing, price and preparation before cooking. Do not rely on the steep P7/P8 parking areas below the mountain on weekends. Book sea-view rooms around 15 days ahead in peak periods.
Season and coastal protection
April–June and September–November are more comfortable; July and August are busier and more expensive. Coastal sun and mosquitoes are strong, so activity before 8:00 or after 16:00 is easier. Sea colour depends on weather and water conditions, so do not build the itinerary around a guaranteed “glass sea” expectation.
