Plan at a glance
Use the official entrance in Jalainur New District
Jalainur Mammoth Scenic Area (扎赉诺尔猛犸旅游景区) is in Jalainur New District (扎赉诺尔新区). Search for “猛犸旅游景区” (Mammoth Scenic Area) or navigate to the intersection of Fumin Street (富民街) and Xinhu Road (鑫湖路). Before entering, confirm parking, the ticket office, and which areas are open that day. An unconfirmed roadside shoulder outside the park is not a parking or photo spot.
Plan a half-day around seasonal opening
Ctrip lists reference hours of 09:00–17:30 from April 22 to December 31. A full visit takes about 3–5 hours. The ticket information line is 0470-6528987; confirm same-day entry and activity availability with the scenic area.

Choose your visit
See the mammoth-themed sculptures
Groups of mammoth sculptures can be viewed and photographed along open paths. These are mammoth-themed sculptures; for actual fossils, visit the separate Jalainur Museum (扎赉诺尔博物馆). Stay on paths and in designated viewing areas; do not climb the sculptures or cross barriers for photos.
Steam Locomotive Culture Park and mining history
The Steam Locomotive Culture Park displays locomotives and work vehicles, telling the railway and mining history of Jalainur. You can see it on the same walk as the mammoth sculptures. If an exhibition requires a separate ticket or is closed that day, follow the entrance notice and staff instructions; outdoor vehicles and indoor exhibitions are separate attractions.
Jinlong Lake, observation tower, and family activities
The park also has Jinlong Lake, an observation tower, a children’s science museum, a Ferris wheel, and other activities, each with different hours and fees. Before buying tickets, ask what is open that day and check height requirements and safety restrictions for children. In winter, take part in lake activities only when the scenic area has announced them as open and staff are supervising.
For a separate border-history visit on the Manzhouli side, with its own transport and ticket arrangements, see Manzhouli National Gate Scenic Area.
Build your day
Core park visit, about 2–3 hours
Enter through the official gate and see the mammoth sculptures first, then visit the Steam Locomotive Culture Park. Choose an open lakeside area, observation tower, or family venue according to the day’s notice. If the sightseeing bus is operating, use it according to its stops and ticket rules and note the last departure. For a walking visit, return to the entrance and parking area the same way.
Family half-day, about 3–5 hours
Allow 3–5 hours to see the sculptures and locomotives, then choose open venues or rides. To see real mammoth fossils, check the address, opening days, and admission requirements for the Jalainur Museum (扎赉诺尔博物馆) separately. It is outside the park and does not share the same ticket.
Get there
Drive to Fumin Street and Xinhu Road
From Manzhouli or Jalainur, navigate to the map listing for “猛犸旅游景区” (Jalainur Mammoth Scenic Area). Follow park signs to a parking area and check fees on site. Before entering, note the walking entrance and closing time; return to the same parking area when leaving.
Confirm bus and return pickup
A reliable round-trip bus timetable from Manzhouli to the scenic area has not been confirmed. Before taking a bus, check the outbound stop and last service. If using a taxi or hired car, agree on pickup time, location, and fee; do not rely on finding a car on demand for the return trip.
Know before you go
Confirm tickets, hours, and individual attractions for the day
Park opening hours do not mean every hall or ride is operating. Call 0470-6528987 to confirm opening, ticket-sales cutoff, whether admission and the sightseeing bus are charged separately, and which documents are needed for child or senior discounts. Do not rely on bundle details or prices from old guides.
Plan the park sculptures and museum fossils separately
The mammoths inside the park are themed sculptures; real fossils are displayed at the Jalainur Museum (扎赉诺尔博物馆) outside the park. Opening arrangements differ, so check the museum’s opening day, reservation, and ID requirements separately before visiting.
Weather, lakeside areas, and group safety
Weather and wind in Jalainur can change. Bring windproof clothing, water, and comfortable walking shoes. Keep children supervised near the lake and rides, and follow barriers, signs, and staff instructions. In winter, do not go onto the ice on your own or join an ice activity without clear opening information and on-site supervision.
