Plan at a glance

See the port exterior

抚远口岸 (Fuyuan Port) is on the east side of downtown Fuyuan. From public areas, you can see the port building and its location on the border. The visit is limited to the exterior and nearby city walk; it does not include entering the port or immigration area, or taking a cross-border trip.

Visit time and access conditions

Allow about 30 minutes to see the port exterior. If you also visit 东极鱼市 (East Pole Fish Market) and the nearby fish-culture exhibition hall (鱼文化展馆), allow 2–4 hours. The exterior is free to view and the area is usually accessible all day, but where you can stay depends on that day's port management and road access.

Choose your visit

The Fuyuan Port building

The words “抚远口岸” (Fuyuan Port) appear on the main building, the main exterior landmark on this stop. View and photograph it from public roads or clearly open areas. Do not include the port interior or immigration facilities in your visit.

Fish market and local food

东极鱼市 (East Pole Fish Market) is across the street from the port. Stalls sell ready-to-eat foods such as grilled fish, fish sausage, and fish floss; downtown restaurants also serve river fish. Selection, prices, and opening hours depend on the stalls operating that day.

The border setting

The port is on the Heilongjiang River, and public areas nearby offer a sense of the city's border location. Passenger services and cross-border access can change quickly. If you do not meet that day's document, visa, and ticket requirements, keep your visit to the public area.

For the open riverside square and Wusu Town route, see East Pole Square and Wusu Town.

For an indoor museum stop in the same Fuyuan route, see East Pole Art Museum.

Build your day

A 30-minute exterior stop

From downtown, go to 抚远口岸 (Fuyuan Port) and photograph the building from an allowed public area for about 30 minutes, then walk to 东极鱼市 (East Pole Fish Market). If you encounter barriers, temporary restrictions, or an unclear entrance, follow the signs and leave; do not look for another photo spot by going around them.

A two-to-four-hour visit around town

You can visit the nearby fish-culture exhibition hall (鱼文化展馆) first, eat at 东极鱼市 (East Pole Fish Market), and finish with the port exterior, or arrange the stops around the hall's opening hours. The exhibition hall and port are separate stops with different access and schedules.

Walk on the public riverside path

If you have time, walk along the public riverside path (抚远市区公共江边步道) after visiting the port and market, then return to town. Set 抚远口岸 (Fuyuan Port) as your map destination; for the path, use the nearest open public access point. Do not enter cargo docks or immigration-controlled areas, and shorten your stay if it is windy by the river.

Check separately before planning a cross-border trip

If you plan to travel by passenger boat, confirm that service is operating that day, the document and visa rules for you, the official ticket channel, fees, and border inspection requirements on both sides. Do not buy a service that unofficially promises passage, or include the boat trip in your itinerary, until these details are confirmed.

Get there

Taxi and walking in town

Downtown Fuyuan is compact; a taxi within the city is about CNY 10. You can call a taxi by phone or hail one on the street. Ride-hailing cars are uncommon. 抚远口岸 (Fuyuan Port) and 东极鱼市 (East Pole Fish Market) face each other across the street, so you can walk between them; search for each Chinese POI separately if needed.

Parking

There are roadside parking spaces near the port, but they can be scarce in peak season. Park only where permitted. Do not stop to take photographs at cargo entrances, immigration lanes, or road bends. If temporary controls are in place, leave as directed by staff; do not search for another close-up photo location.

Know before you go

Entry and exit requirements

For travel by boat, confirm the requirements for tickets, visas, passport validity, fees at both ports, sailing dates, and border procedures for your travel date. Do not assume that an electronic visa applies or count on being allowed to cross or return on a particular schedule.

Public areas and food

Stay in public areas where visitors are allowed. Do not cross barriers, approach inspection facilities, or use drones. 东极鱼市 (East Pole Fish Market) sells grilled fish, fish sausage, and fish floss. If you prefer not to eat raw foods, choose cooked dishes and plan other meals after returning to town.
