Transfer at the visitor center

The island's entrance is at 黑瞎子岛游客中心 (the Heixiazi Island Visitor Center). Park your private vehicle there and use the scenic area's shuttle bus to travel between stops. The visitor center is more than 30 km from downtown Fuyuan, about a 40-minute drive. City buses do not serve the island.

Tickets and operating hours

An adult ticket is listed at CNY 145 and includes admission and the island shuttle. Travel toward Marker 259 (259号界碑) may require an additional electric cart. During peak season (roughly June–August), listed hours are 08:00–17:00; hours may be shorter outside peak season. Confirm the ticket, last shuttle, and opening status of each stop on the day.

Choose your visit

Wetland park and former outpost

The first stop on the shuttle loop is the wetland park, where you can view the landscape from open boardwalks. Some public viewpoints look toward the former Russian outpost. Access to stops and boardwalks is subject to on-site controls; do not enter closed areas.

East Pole Pagoda

The pagoda is the main architectural landmark on the loop. The plaza has qilin sculptures and dragon columns; the central axis offers a full view of the pagoda, with a qilin sculpture as a foreground subject. Elevator access, open floors, exhibits, and off-season access can change with weather and maintenance. The exterior and plaza remain the basic visit if the tower is closed.

Bear Park

Visit Bear Park by vehicle as arranged by the scenic-area operator. It may offer staff-managed animal interactions. Do not bring your own food, open the windows to reach out, or leave the designated vehicle. If a supervised feeding activity is offered, decide whether to join only under staff instructions.

For sunrise and riverside views before the island, see East Pole Square and Wusu Town.

For a hilltop viewpoint in Fuyuan, see East Pole Pavilion.

For the port-side border setting in Fuyuan, see Fuyuan Port.

Build your day

A compact two-to-three-hour visit

Buy your ticket at 黑瞎子岛游客中心 (the Heixiazi Island Visitor Center) and take the shuttle onto the island, stopping along the one-way loop. If time is limited, shorten your walks and viewing time at each stop. Follow the actual order—湿地公园 (Wetland Park), 东极宝塔 (East Pole Pagoda), then 野熊园 (Bear Park)—or turn back early as directed by the operator. Do not walk between stops in the opposite direction.

A full three-to-four-hour loop

At the first stop, walk on the open wetland boardwalks. At the second, see the East Pole Pagoda plaza and check whether the tower is open. At the third, visit Bear Park in the operator's vehicle. After getting off at each stop, check the next shuttle time, then return to the visitor center as directed. Driving time, waiting, and queues affect the total visit time.

Add a trip toward Marker 259

Marker 259 (259号界碑) is not within walking distance of the regular shuttle stops. Travel from the 东极宝塔站 (East Pole Pagoda stop) toward the marker may require a separate electric cart. Its operation, fare, and permitted destination depend on the day's authorized transport arrangements. Do not walk into managed roads or approach sentry posts.

Get there

From downtown Fuyuan to the visitor center

Drive or arrange a car to 黑瞎子岛游客中心 (the Heixiazi Island Visitor Center); the trip from downtown takes about 40 minutes. There is no public transport on the island. Visitors must transfer to the scenic-area shuttle and cannot tour the route in a private car.

Parking and return trip

Park at 黑瞎子岛游客中心 (the Heixiazi Island Visitor Center) before ticket inspection and boarding; check the posted parking fee. After the visit, you will need a car, taxi, or private vehicle from the visitor center back to Fuyuan. Arrange a pickup time with your driver before setting out.

Know before you go

Hours, wind, and supplies

It is windy on the island, so bring a light jacket even in summer. Allow for shuttle travel and waiting time on the full route. Peak-season last-shuttle times do not apply in the off-season; confirm the day's final departure to avoid being stranded after service ends. Food options are limited. The buffet at 熊熊餐厅 (Xiongxiong Restaurant) and its meal times depend on that day's arrangements. Bring water and basic snacks; you can eat at 东极鱼市 (East Pole Fish Market) after returning to town.

Border-area and wildlife rules

Stay in public visitor areas and follow barriers and on-site signs. Do not enter areas around boundary markers, sentry posts, military roads, or other restricted places, and do not use drones. Do not feed animals in Bear Park or lean out of a vehicle. On wetland boardwalks, do not chase or disturb wildlife.
