Architecture, galleries, and evening views

East Pole Art Museum is at the intersection of Foshan Road and Yanjiang Road. Its red-brick, castle-like exterior is a main reason to stop. Inside, you can see local-themed exhibitions such as birch-bark paintings. Allow about 30 minutes to see the exterior, or 1–2 hours to visit the galleries and wait for evening views.

Tickets and opening hours

A single-museum ticket is listed at CNY 30; a three-museum pass is listed at CNY 168. Ask at the ticket office whether the pass is still available and which venues it includes. Confirm the day's opening hours, last-entry time, and any seasonal changes.

Single ticket or combined pass

You can buy a separate ticket for the art museum. The three-museum pass covers the art museum, Sanjiang Nature and Ecology Museum, and Impression Museum, but check whether it is still on sale and its valid dates. The museums do not all keep the same hours, so plan around the day's notices. Even if you only want to see the art museum, confirm its ticket price and last entry. You can view the exterior without entering the galleries; indoor visits follow ticketing and entry times.

Tickets and visit details

View visit options for this attraction and confirm the visit date and current arrangements before you go.

Choose your visit

Red-brick exterior

The museum has a Gothic, castle-like design. Photograph the full building from the front or at an angle of about 45 degrees. Daylight brings out the brickwork and spires. Night lighting is not guaranteed, and the time it turns on can vary.

Birch-bark paintings and temporary exhibitions

The museum displays birch-bark paintings and changes its other themed exhibitions over time. Past shows have included Chinese painting and metalwork. Check the current exhibition notice before entering, and follow the signs at the entrance and in the galleries for photography rules.

Marker 251 and public areas

Marker 251 is across the street and can be viewed from public areas. Whether you can get closer depends on the area open that day. Do not cross barriers or approach managed facilities; take photographs only from places where visitors are allowed to stand.

For a hilltop view to pair with the galleries, see East Pole Pavilion.

For the port exterior and public riverside setting, see Fuyuan Port.

Build your day

A 30-minute exterior visit

From the public area by the street, view the red-brick building and spires from the front or at an angle. Then check whether the area across the street is open to visitors. If Marker 251 is temporarily restricted, visit the museum exterior only; do not look for another way around the controls.

A one-to-two-hour museum combination

If you plan to visit the ecology museum, check both museums' hours first, then arrange lunch at the fish market and visit the art museum. In winter, confirm the day's opening and last-entry times. Ask separately about the single-museum ticket and three-museum pass; one pass does not guarantee that every venue is open.

Wait for evening views

After visiting the galleries, walk on a nearby public path and return to view the exterior after dark. If the lights are off or the weather is unsuitable for staying outdoors, head back to town rather than waiting for a particular lighting time.

Get there

Local transport

Navigate to “东极艺术馆 (East Pole Art Museum)” or the intersection of 佛山路 (Foshan Road) and 沿江路 (Yanjiang Road). Taxis are convenient in Fuyuan; confirm the fare for your route with the driver. Follow signs to the pedestrian entrance after getting out.

Parking and nearby stops

There are free parking spaces nearby, but the exact lot and number of spaces are unclear; follow posted signs. East Pole Fish Market is about 1 km away and can be reached on foot or by a short ride. It is near the ecology museum, but the two venues are managed separately.

Know before you go

Passes, closures, and changing exhibitions

Tickets, exhibitions, and entry hours may change by season. Before setting out, confirm that the museum is open, check its last-entry time, and verify the valid dates for any combined pass.

Photography, the marker, and food

Follow gallery signs for photography and flash rules. Stay in public areas around Marker 251 and do not use drones. East Pole Fish Market sells grilled fish and fish floss; prices and stall hours depend on the day.
