How to Visit
1

Choose a one-day or two-day plan

A one-day plan should focus on Golden Summit and one lower stop. A two-day plan lets you add Wannian Temple, Qingyin Pavilion, or a real hiking section without rushing.

Tip:Mount Emei is too large for a casual full-coverage day.
2

Buy transport with the route in mind

The mountain ticket, sightseeing bus, Golden Summit cableway, and Wannian cableway are separate decisions. Buy only the transport that matches your actual route.

Tip:The full mountain bus is useful for Golden Summit day trips.
3

Start early for Golden Summit

Use the visitor center bus to Leidongping, walk to Jieyin Hall, then take the Golden Summit cableway. This is the efficient route for most one-day visitors.

Tip:Late starts risk missing return buses or traveling in fog.
4

Add lower mountain stops selectively

Wannian Temple and Qingyin Pavilion are worthwhile, but adding both after Golden Summit makes a very long day. Choose one if time is limited.

Tip:Do not underestimate bus transfer time.
5

Prepare for weather and monkeys

Bring a warm layer for the top, rain protection, non-slip shoes, and keep all food hidden around monkey areas.

Tip:Mountain weather can make the best viewpoint disappear quickly.
Highlights
  • World Heritage Buddhist mountain with temples, forest trails, and high-altitude views
  • Golden Summit route for sunrise, cloud sea, and the Samantabhadra statue
  • Lower mountain stops such as Wannian Temple and Qingyin Pavilion
  • Choice between efficient bus-cableway travel and demanding pilgrimage hiking
  • Easy rail connection from Leshan for travelers not staying in Emeishan
Insider Tips

Use Emeishan Station, not the older Emei station, for most tourist transfers.

Book tickets early for holidays because mountain entry, bus, and cableway capacity can sell out.

Stay at Golden Summit or Leidongping if sunrise is important.

Do not hold plastic bags or visible food near monkeys.

Carry cashless payment, but also keep your passport or ID ready for ticket checks.
