Plan at a glance
A winter-only attraction
Mudanjiang Snow Castle is on Jiangxin Island, with the entrance beside Jiangbin Park. It depends on natural snow and low temperatures and usually operates only when those conditions are met. In previous years, the opening season was often from late December to the following February, but the dates vary; confirm whether it is open in the season you plan to visit.
Current-season tickets and activities are unconfirmed
The current season's dates, ticket prices, concessions, ice slide, light show and transfers have not been confirmed. Before travelling, check the current operating dates, online ticketing, opening hours and activities, and add this Jiangxin Island visit to your plan only after the Snow Castle opens.

Choose your visit
The castle and snow sculptures
The giant castle is the park's main structure. During the day, look at the outline of the snow sculptures, the packed-snow details and the red-lantern snow path. These are man-made snow works, best approached as a winter activity setting rather than as a natural ice landscape.
The giant snowman and ice slide
The giant snowman, the snow sculpture holding a red heart and the ice slide are suitable for a short stop with children, friends or a partner. Whether the slide operates depends on the day's low temperature, maintenance and safety arrangements. If you want to photograph a slide ride, confirm the opening time and queueing method first, and do not wait beside a closed slide.
Night lighting
If the lights and light show operate after dark, the castle, snow path and large sculptures create different photo opportunities. The lighting times and programme content have no fixed arrangement for the current season, so previous years' evening activities are not guaranteed.
Build your day
The 1–2-hour complete route
Enter during the day and start with the castle and main snow sculptures, then try the ice slide. If the park allows evening stays, identify the exit and a warm rest point in advance, then wait for nightfall to photograph the lights and light show. Follow the day's closing time and do not shorten the return journey to wait for a programme.
The approximately 30-minute short route
Walk directly from the entrance to the giant castle and giant snowman area for photos, then try the ice slide if it is open. Leave after the visit. This suits visitors who want to see the main forms or make Snow Castle a short stop near Jiangbin Park.
Choosing between day and night
Daylight is better for the original colours of the snow sculptures and architectural details, while nighttime is better for the lights. Doing both means more time waiting in the cold. Whether to stay after dark depends on that evening's lights, programme and transport.
Get there
From the city to Jiangbin Park
City buses stop at Jiangbin Park. From the park side, walk to Jiangxin Island. When taking a taxi, state “Snow Castle” or “Jiangxin Island” as the destination. Snow Castle has no dedicated metro station; check both the park entrance and the island access route open that day when navigating.
Entrance and walking
The entrance is beside Jiangbin Park. Movement inside is mainly on foot between the castle, snowman and slide according to the areas open that day. Jiangbin Park is a neighbouring city park; its boat rides, morning market and riverside walks are independent park experiences and are not included in the Snow Castle ticket or route.
Know before you go
Reconfirm the operating season
The Snow Castle's opening status, dates, opening hours and online ticketing for the current season still need confirmation. Until that is settled, do not arrange a cross-city trip specifically for it. If natural snow or low temperatures are insufficient, the sculptures, slide and light show may all change.
Cold weather and outdoor safety
Jiangxin Island is quite exposed, so wind can make it feel significantly colder. Wear a thick down jacket, hat, gloves and non-slip winter shoes. Follow the on-site safety instructions around the slide, icy paths and waterside access. As a winter outdoor attraction, the park allows you to bring a thermos; follow the on-site rules for what may be carried in and for waste disposal.
Jiangbin Park and city meals
Snow Castle is beside Jiangbin Park, so the two can be combined in one city itinerary after confirming that the Snow Castle is open. Look for barbecue, hot pot or Sichuan restaurants nearby, confirm which are operating when you arrive, and arrange the return trip according to that day's bus or taxi service.
