Free entry with named reservation
The Naval Museum is at 8 Laiyang Road in Shinan District. Admission is free, but the general ticket must be reserved seven days in advance through the official “Naval Museum of the Chinese People's Liberation Army” mini program with named registration. It opens 09:00–17:00 Tuesday through Sunday, with last entry at 16:00, and is closed every Monday.
The entrance affects your route
The museum has Gates 1, 3 and 4. Gate 4 is closer to the vessels displayed on the water; Gate 3 works better for a shorter exterior and Qinyu Road combination. Choose the gate according to the areas you want to see that day.

Vessels and land-based equipment
The waterfront area has naval vessels, while the land displays include aircraft and tanks. Indoor galleries introduce the construction and development of the navy. Which vessels can be boarded, the viewing area and queueing process may change by day; seeing a vessel does not mean boarding is available.
Submarine and indoor galleries
The nuclear submarine currently uses an on-site queue after entry; capacity and opening arrangements follow the notice in the museum that day. Visitors interested in military history can combine the vessels, equipment and galleries in a full route. If you only want the coast and exterior views of the ships, use the shorter Gate 3 route.
Build your day
The 3–4 hour complete route
Enter through Gate 4 and start with the waterfront vessel area. Queue for boarding or visit the open areas according to the day's arrangement, then return to the land equipment displays and finish in the main indoor galleries before leaving toward Gate 3. The nuclear-submarine queue can change the total time; ask about the day's arrangement after entry before deciding whether to wait.
The 1–1.5 hour short route
Enter through Gate 3, see Hero Square and the “Forging the Deep Blue” monument, then view the ships and nuclear submarine from the waterfront before leaving through Gate 3. Qinyu Road and Little Qingdao can be the next coastal walk, but they do not share the museum's reservation rules.
Get there
Metro and bus
Take Metro Line 3 or Line 4 to People's Hall Station and walk about 5–10 minutes from Exit D to Gate 1 or Gate 4. Buses 214, 220 and 225, among others, stop at “Municipal Hospital.”
Entrances and security
Gate 1 is the main entrance, Gate 4 is near the waterfront display, and Gate 3 is close to Qinyu Road. Parking in the old town is limited. Security screening is required, so have your reservation record, ID and personal items ready before entering.

Clothing and safety
Slippers and sandals that leave the heel exposed are not allowed. Lighters and drones cannot pass security. The submarine interior is narrow, and a short skirt is inconvenient for moving through it. With children or older companions, include boarding stairs and queue time in the overall plan.
