Free elevation and city views
Signal Hill Park is at 16 Jia Longshan Road in Shinan District. The park is free and usually takes about 1–2 hours. The rotating observation tower at the summit costs an additional CNY 10 and suits visitors who want a higher view over the old town, red-tiled roofs and coastline.
The park and observation tower have different hours
The park usually opens 06:00–20:30 in peak season from April to October, and 06:00–20:00 in the off-season from November to March. The rotating observation tower usually opens 08:00–17:00, with ticket sales ending at 16:30. The park being open does not mean the tower is open all day.

Old-town roofs and the sea
Signal Hill is a good place to see Qingdao's red-tiled old-town roofs, church spires and near-shore scenery. The rotating observation tower turns slowly, giving you changing views in different directions from indoors. The park itself is enough for a free climb and a short rest.
A gentler north gate and summit structures
The north side has a gentler slope and suits visitors who want to avoid steep stairs. The red observation tower, Five-Dragon Pool, Six-Bend Corridor and Lianxin Bridge offer different viewpoints and work well for photography and old-town architecture.
Build your day
The approximately 1-hour short route
Enter through the north gate, follow the gentler path to the summit, stop at the viewing platform and rotating observation tower, then return through the north gate. If you only want the city panorama, the free park area is enough; buy a tower ticket before 16:30 if you want to go inside.
A 2–3 hour old-town walk
Climb from the north gate, leave through the west gate, then walk toward St. Michael's Cathedral or the University Road area. The north gate to the summit takes about 5–10 minutes. The west gate has more stairs, so the original route back is preferable for older companions or anyone walking slowly.
Get there
Metro and entrances
Take Metro Line 4 to Signal Hill (Qingdao University Affiliated Hospital) Station. From Exit B2, walk toward the park's west gate. For the gentler route, navigate to “Signal Hill Park North Gate” and enter near Qidong Road.
Bus and parking
Old-town roads are narrow and parking is limited, so public transport is easier. When heading to the north gate, use “Signal Hill Park North Gate” as the navigation destination; searching only for the park may lead you to the west gate or a steeper entrance.
Know before you go
Observation-tower ticket and hours
The park is free, while the rotating observation tower requires a separate CNY 10 ticket. The tower usually opens 08:00–17:00, with ticket sales ending at 16:30. Rain, holidays or on-site management may affect entry.
Stairs and crowds
The west gate has more stairs; the winding road from the north gate is gentler. The summit and tower are busier on holidays, while weekdays or earlier hours are better for photos. Stand securely while the tower is moving, and expect to wait for a window seat.
