Who should use the Jinsha entrance
The Jinsha Cableway is on the east side of Mount Sanqing and is the main entrance closest to Sanqing Mountain High-speed Railway Station. Its upper station is near Nanqing Garden, so you can reach the Goddess of the East and Giant Python Emerging from the Mountain relatively quickly. It suits first-time visitors, shorter visits and anyone who wants to reduce the uphill stairs.
There is still continuous walking after you leave the cableway, including Nanqing Garden and the later paths. After completing the booking, also plan for the number pickup, waiting area, queue and downhill time.
Tickets and operating hours
The main scenic-area ticket is about CNY 120. A Jinsha round-trip cableway ticket is about CNY 125 (about CNY 70 up and CNY 55 down), making the adult base budget about CNY 245 for a Jinsha round trip. If you plan to go up by Jinsha and down by Gangshou, the current calculation is CNY 120 + CNY 70 + CNY 65, or about CNY 255. If the ticketing page offers a dedicated combination product, use that day's product. The cableway usually starts around 08:00, but the day's hours can change with the season, crowds and weather.

A quick Nanqing Garden visit
From the Jinsha upper station, go to Nanqing Garden for the Goddess of the East and Giant Python Emerging from the Mountain, then return to Jinsha for the descent. This concentrates the visit on the representative granite peaks near the entrance and suits visitors who want a compact core route.
Jinsha up, Gangshou down
If the Gangshou Cableway and the connecting shuttle are operating that day, go up via Jinsha, pass Nanqing Garden, Sunshine Coast and the West Coast, and descend via Gangshou. The route takes about 5–6 hours, is mainly level paths and downhill sections, and may reduce the uncertainty of a long Jinsha descent queue.

3–4-hour Jinsha round trip
At the Visitor Center, complete the day's number pickup first. Take the Jinsha Cableway up, follow the signs to Nanqing Garden for the Goddess of the East and Giant Python Emerging from the Mountain, then return to the Jinsha upper station and take the cableway down. The route takes about 3–4 hours and stays within a relatively small area; the West Coast cliffside walkway is not included.
Even after buying online, you may still need to collect a number and queue on site during the busy season. Follow the day's system for online pre-numbering or scanning at the entrance. If a number expires, it may need to be processed again; once you have a number, stay close enough to hear the call.
5–6-hour Jinsha up, Gangshou down route
Take the Jinsha Cableway up, visit Nanqing Garden, then follow the mountain signs through Sunshine Coast and the West Coast before walking to the Gangshou Cableway for the descent. The route takes about 5–6 hours. Before setting out, ask whether Gangshou is open, its last departure, and where the queue forms.
Allow about 20 minutes for the transfer back towards the Jinsha Visitor Center if the shuttle is operating that day. Confirm the boarding point, fare and last service before choosing Gangshou for the descent. If your car is at the Jinsha Visitor Center, make sure the transfer returns there.
If you arrive late
If the uphill queue at Jinsha is already long when you arrive, ask whether there is a shuttle to Gangshou and whether Gangshou is accepting uphill passengers. Shuttle service, the Gangshou queue and fees can change with the crowd; confirm the options before choosing between waiting at Jinsha and changing entrances.
If there is no workable return shuttle, use a Jinsha round-trip plan. If the Gangshou descent is confirmed, write the car location, shuttle direction and last departure into the day's itinerary.
Get there
Railway station, driving and parking
The drive from Sanqing Mountain High-speed Railway Station to the Jinsha Cableway takes about 20 minutes, and a taxi is the usual connection. By car, navigate to “Sanqing Mountain Jinsha Cableway Visitor Center.” Parking costs about CNY 30–50 per day, and charging points may be busy at peak times.
There is a KFC at the entrance plaza, where you can have breakfast or pick up food before collecting a number. After parking, find the number-pickup, ticket-check and waiting areas before starting to count the mountain route time.
Know before you go
Queues and number pickup
During the busy season, the uphill Jinsha queue can approach 2 hours. Arriving at 05:00–06:00 is one way to respond to a peak, not a fixed requirement. Even online ticket buyers may need same-day number pickup; review the Sanqing Smart Tourism mini program or the on-site scanning instructions before leaving.
If you arrive late and face a long queue, ask whether a shuttle to Gangshou is running and whether the cableway is operating. The Gangshou cableway, shuttle and waiting order depend on the crowd, so confirm the fee, vehicle and waiting method on site.
Mountain walking and the return
There is still a walk from the Jinsha upper station to Nanqing Garden, and reaching the West Coast and Sunshine Coast requires continuing along the mountain paths. Wear shoes with good grip, choose between the round trip and the Gangshou downhill route according to your stamina, and include the cableway's last departure in the time calculation.
After leaving, you can eat near the Jinsha service area or visit Shanzhongwei Farmhouse Restaurant. If you plan to enter the main Mount Sanqing scenic area again the next day, check the ticket, entrance and accommodation arrangements separately; for this visit, focus on the Jinsha entrance, number pickup, queue and descent.
