Plan at a glance

Location and visit length

Jingyuan is at 70 Anshan Road in Heping District. Its entrance is beside the street-level “Jingyuan” sign. The courtyard and main building take about 30 minutes for a quick visit. Allow 1.5–2 hours to see the living spaces used by Puyi during his Tianjin years, restored rooms, and architectural details. Jingyuan is next to Zhangyuan, but the two sites have independent buildings, displays, and ticketing.

Tickets, reservations, and opening

An adult ticket is CNY20; students and visitors aged 60 or above pay half price with the required document. Tickets can be bought through the “Tianjin Jingyuan” official account, a platform, or the on-site ticket office. It generally opens Tuesday to Sunday from around 9:00–17:30, with last entry at 17:00, and is closed on Mondays; public holidays may bring changes. Check combined tickets and guided services separately.

Choose your visit

Main-building displays

The first floor recreates a reception hall and dining room. The second floor presents bedrooms and studies associated with Puyi, Wanrong, and Wenxiu, together with old photographs and objects that explain the living environment. This stop suits visitors interested in late Qing and early Republican history, Puyi’s Tianjin period, and historic Western-style villas. The focus is on space and historical material, not just the exterior.

Courtyard and architectural details

The central courtyard fountain, the front of the main building, and the east-side corridor are reliable photo points. The arched doorway helps visitors observe the building’s structure. Light is often softer from 9:00 to 11:00, but visitor numbers and weather vary. Keep clear of routes, displays, and other visitors while taking photos.

Build your day

A 30-minute short route

Enter from the street, see the Jingyuan plaque and the main facade, then walk around the courtyard to view the fountain and building. If time is limited, choose the first-floor public rooms before leaving. This short route keeps the focus on the building and courtyard; do not add several more residences just before closing.

A 1.5–2 hour combined route

Follow the signs through the first-floor reception room and dining room, the second-floor bedrooms and studies, then return to the courtyard and corridor for architectural details. After leaving, walk about 3–5 minutes to Zhangyuan and decide whether to enter according to its performance and ticket arrangements that day. If continuing to Porcelain House and Zhang Xueliang Former Residence, connect by taxi or bicycle and check each closing time separately.

Get there

Metro and entrance

Take Metro Line 1 to Anshan Road Station. From Exit A or D, walk about 5–10 minutes to 70 Anshan Road. The entrance is on the street side; navigate to the Jingyuan plaque and street number rather than looking for an access route through Zhangyuan’s courtyard.

Driving and walking

Roads in the older central area are narrow and parking is limited, so do not drive around the entrance looking for a space. Use a legitimate car park and walk. When continuing on Anshan Road or Shanxi Road, watch for vehicles and bicycles and do not stop at residential entrances for photos.

Know before you go

Optional activities and crowds

The availability, price, and content of immersive puzzle activities and audio guides follow the day’s ticket information; they are not required for the basic visit. Jingyuan is often quieter than Zhangyuan, but weekends, holidays, and group activities can still change the experience. Check that Jingyuan is open on the date you plan to visit.

History and venue rules

Restored furnishings explain the historical rooms; on-site labels identify original objects and reproductions. There are steps between floors, so visitors with limited mobility can ask about access. Keep quiet indoors, do not touch displays, and do not block stairs or corridors. If you attend a performance at Zhangyuan, follow its separate theatre entry and photography rules.

Combined tickets and reservations

If buying a Jingyuan–Zhangyuan combined ticket on the same day, confirm the date, check-in method, and included content at the ticket office. Without a combined ticket, handle the two sites according to their separate orders and last-entry times.

Rainy-day visit

Rain and snow can make the courtyard, fountain area, and corridor floor slippery. Avoid wet edges while taking photos; the indoor route remains one-way, so do not stop in doorways or at stair entrances.
