Reservation, location and hours
New Fourth Army Memorial Hall is at 159 Jianjun East Road in Tinghu District, Yancheng. The main entrance faces Iron Army Square. Admission is free, but visitors must make a real-name reservation in advance through the “New Fourth Army Memorial Hall” WeChat account. The hall is closed on Mondays and open Tuesday–Sunday 09:00–17:00, with entry stopping at 16:30.
Allow about one hour for a quick visit or about two hours to read through the six exhibition halls. The square, main hall and stele garden are connected by walking routes, so allow for outdoor time and water in summer.
Who it suits
Iron Army Square, the “Eastward Advance Bugle” sculpture and the N4A main hall give first-time visitors a clear starting order. History and military enthusiasts, families and school groups can combine the six exhibition halls with the stele garden in one cultural visit.

Iron Army Square and the main hall
The “Eastward Advance Bugle” sculpture is the main landmark in front of Iron Army Square. The six exhibition halls in the main building follow the New Fourth Army from its formation and development to victory. The N4A building, outdoor tanks and aircraft also suit military-themed photography.
Key exhibits and stele garden
Inside the main hall, look for materials on the rebuilding of the army headquarters after the Wannan Incident and the belongings of Wang Haiwen and other figures. Then walk through the outdoor stele garden. The Iron Army Square sculpture is suited to photography around 09:00–11:00, when the light is softer and visitor numbers are often lower.
Build your day
About 1 hour: square and exhibition-hall route
Enter from Iron Army Square, stop at the “Eastward Advance Bugle” sculpture, then enter the main hall and browse exhibition halls one through six in order. Leave from the other side of the main hall. With limited time, focus on the square, N4A building and main hall rather than spending long in the stele garden.
About 2 hours: main hall and stele garden
Start in Iron Army Square by reading the sculpture base and the granite reliefs on both sides. Visit the six exhibition halls in order, giving extra time to the materials on the rebuilt headquarters and Wang Haiwen’s belongings. After the main hall, walk through the stele garden and return toward Jianjun East Road.
Guided-talk timing
The common public-talk times listed for the hall are 10:00 and 15:00, but whether a talk runs depends on the day. If you want to attend, complete the reservation and enter first, then adjust the exhibition order according to the day’s notice.
Get there
Navigation and entrance
Use “New Fourth Army Memorial Hall Main Hall” or “Iron Army Square” as the navigation destination. The main entrance faces the square. From elsewhere in the city, use the address at 159 Jianjun East Road for your bus, taxi or cycling route, then enter through the square.
Parking and nearby plans
Parking inside the complex may be some distance from the main hall; a paid car park on the east side is an alternative. If you continue with a city museum route, Yancheng Museum can be visited next, but connect the two by city transport rather than treating them as a walkable pair.
Know before you go
