Location, admission and opening hours
Tengzhou Han Portrait Stone Museum is at No. 1 Fuqian East Road in Tengzhou, inside the Longquan Square cultural area. Enter through the museum's main entrance. Admission is free and no advance reservation is required; enter with an ID card. The museum is open Tuesday–Sunday from 09:00–17:00, with last admission at 16:30, and closed on Mondays except public holidays.
From Tengzhou East Railway Station or Tengzhou Railway Station, a bus or taxi takes about 20–40 minutes. Drivers can navigate to “Tengzhou Han Portrait Stone Museum”; free parking is available at the entrance.
How much time to allow
Allow 1–1.5 hours for the first-floor Highlights Hall, “Drum Dance and Music” (《建鼓乐舞图》), “Sun and Moon Together” (《日月同辉图》), “Ploughing Ox” (《牛耕图》) and the Former Maogou Han Tomb. A 2–3 hour route adds the Stone Coffin Hall, Tomb Chamber Hall, Ancestral Shrine Hall and Stone Chamber Hall.
The displays contain a lot of information. A short route should focus on the Highlights Hall and Former Maogou Han Tomb; a longer route can then follow the floors and read the tomb, shrine and stone-chamber displays in order.

Pictorial stones and reconstructed tomb spaces
The Former Maogou Han Tomb is a major reconstructed display. Its spiral-pattern stone columns are inside the tomb chamber, and they fit naturally with the Stone Coffin, Tomb Chamber, Ancestral Shrine and Stone Chamber halls in one historical route. Other reconstructed Western Han stone-coffin and stone-chamber tombs extend the visit from individual pictorial stones to burial spaces.
“Drum Dance and Music,” “Sun and Moon Together” and “Ploughing Ox” are the priority works in the Highlights Hall. They show Han-era music and dance, ideas about the universe, and agricultural life. Note the subject of each scene before moving into the later galleries.
Who it suits
History, art and archaeology enthusiasts can allow 2–3 hours to read the pictorial stones and reconstructed tomb spaces in sequence. Families can choose “Ploughing Ox,” the music-and-dance scenes and the Former Maogou Han Tomb as the main stops, reducing the amount of label reading in one visit.
The museum is in the same cultural area as Mozi Memorial Museum and Tengzhou Museum. The three can be visited on foot, but each has its own entrance; the on-site admission process here does not replace Tengzhou Museum's advance reservation.
Build your day
1–1.5 hour highlights route
Enter through the main entrance and go first to the first-floor Highlights Hall. Focus on “Drum Dance and Music,” “Sun and Moon Together” and “Ploughing Ox,” then visit the Former Maogou Han Tomb and its spiral-pattern stone columns before leaving.
This route suits first-time visitors or people planning all three museums in one day. The time spent in the Highlights Hall and Former Maogou Han Tomb can follow the crowd level. Guided service is optional.
2–3 hour full route
Start in the first-floor Highlights Hall, then follow the Stone Coffin Hall, Tomb Chamber Hall, the basement Ancestral Shrine Hall and Stone Chamber Hall. Finish by returning to the priority pictorial stones and Former Maogou Han Tomb. This route separates individual stones, reconstructed tombs and shrine spaces for a fuller visit.
The reference price for a guided tour is CNY 120 per group, and an electronic guide is another option. Neither is required for admission. If you choose a guide, adjust the total time to the day's service arrangement.
Combining the other Longquan Square museums
Tengzhou Han Portrait Stone Museum can be visited on foot with Mozi Memorial Museum and Tengzhou Museum. All three are in the same cultural area, but each has its own entrance and hours. Tengzhou Museum requires a reservation three days in advance; its admission process cannot be replaced by the on-site entry used here.

Know before you go
Admission and guided service
Tengzhou Han Portrait Stone Museum is free, requires no advance reservation and admits visitors with an ID card. It is open Tuesday–Sunday from 09:00–17:00, with last admission at 16:30, and closed on Mondays except public holidays.
The pictorial stones and reconstructed tombs are easier to understand with a guide or electronic tour. A guided tour is about CNY 120 per group and is optional. Do not touch the stone displays, and keep a safe distance from the exhibits and reconstructed spaces.
Food and visit pace
Food choices inside the museum are limited. Eat around Longquan Square or in Tengzhou city; common local options include vegetable pancakes (菜煎饼), spicy chicken (辣子鸡), meat noodles (大肉面) and porridge.
For a same-day visit to all three museums, the 1–1.5 hour short route fits before or after the museum with a reservation. A full 2–3 hour visit should be planned as a half-day, with each museum's exhibition time calculated separately.
