Rice-field art and the viewing tower

富锦万亩水稻公园 (Fujin Ten-Thousand-Mu Rice Park) is about 3 km west of 聚贤村 (Juxian Village) in Chang'an Town, with the east gate (东门) as its main entrance. Its main attraction is 3D rice-field art made with rice plants in different colors. The full designs are easiest to see from the 39-meter “稻海之星” (Star of the Rice Sea) viewing tower.

Tickets and the best season

A pass listed at CNY 40 includes admission, the sightseeing bus, and the viewing tower. The park is open 08:30–17:30. The rice-field designs change each year, and July to September is usually the best viewing period. Harvest may begin in early October; confirm the current year's design and entry arrangements before going.

Choose your visit

“Star of the Rice Sea” viewing tower

The 39-meter tower has an elevator and a 360-degree view from the top. The surrounding fields display several themed rice designs that change each year. From the tower, you can see the different rice colors and how the fields are laid out. Weather and maintenance can affect access; follow the day's opening arrangements.

Rice-field art and paths through the fields

The rice art uses different-colored rice plants, and the themes and layouts change each year. Past designs have included a map of Heilongjiang, Hezhen culture, and farming machinery. The wooden path lets you see the rice plants up close, though the full design is visible only from above. Signs along the path, including “I'll Wait for You in Fujin” and a heart-shaped walkway, make closer photo subjects; these installations may change.

Sightseeing bus and a break in the park

The sightseeing bus connects field stops and photo installations. The park has a rice-field café serving rice ice cream and local drinks. Food choices are limited, and café hours and supplies depend on the season. Treat the café and photo installations as optional stops around the fields and tower.

For an indoor history and riverside garden stop, see Fujin Museum and Songhua River Stele Forest.

For a wetland boardwalk and birdwatching route, see Fujin National Wetland Park.

Build your day

A one-to-one-and-a-half-hour short route

Enter through the east gate and take the sightseeing bus included with the pass to the “Star of the Rice Sea.” Go up the tower first to see the rice art, then walk back along the field boardwalk. If the bus or tower is not operating, check which paths are open and whether the ticket price or inclusions have changed.

A two-to-three-hour full route

Start at the tower for a panoramic view, then take the bus into the fields to see that year's designs and installations at open stops. Walk a short stretch of boardwalk and take a break at the rice-field café; try the rice ice cream or a local drink before returning to the east gate. Bus stops and departures depend on the day's operation. If the tower is closed for maintenance, walk the open boardwalk to see the rice plants and check whether the pass inclusions have changed. Do not enter the fields to reach a stop.

What to do outside the viewing season

The rice art is seasonal and disappears after harvest. In autumn or spring, check whether the tower and field paths are open before deciding to visit. If the rice-field art is your main reason for coming, plan your visit during the viewing season before harvest.

Get there

Driving or hiring a car

The drive from downtown Fujin takes about 40 minutes. Navigate to “富锦万亩水稻公园 (Fujin Ten-Thousand-Mu Rice Park)” and head for the east gate (东门). Allow another 40 minutes for the return trip; arrange a return vehicle in advance if you hire a car. The park is far from town and buses are infrequent, so do not rely on finding a bus at the last minute.

Parking and getting around

There is free parking at the entrance. After parking, go to the east-gate ticket office to check your ticket. A pass listed at CNY 40 includes admission, the sightseeing bus, and the viewing tower; confirm the ticket type and price for the day. Check the bus stops and whether the tower is open, and walk only on marked boardwalks.

Know before you go

Viewing season, weather, and walking

July to September is usually best for the rice art, while harvest may begin in early October. The design, colors, and stage of growth change each year. The grounds are open, with little shade and strong winds. Bring a hat, sun protection, and a windproof layer. Stay on open field paths and do not enter the planted areas.

Supplies and photography

The park sells some drinks and simple food, but choices are limited; bring enough water and a few snacks. Use the tower for wide views of the rice fields and the boardwalk for close-up details. Photograph from open viewpoints; do not enter the fields or climb over barriers.
