Plan at a glance
The public scenic area and museum
三江口生态旅游区 (Sanjiangkou Scenic Area) is about 4 km northeast of downtown Tongjiang, beside Highway 221 (221国道). Its public areas are free and open all day. 同江市赫哲族博物馆 (the Hezhen Museum of Tongjiang) inside the scenic area has its own hours, usually 09:00–17:00, and is not open all day with the park.
How much time to allow
Allow about one hour for 三江口广场 (Sanjiangkou Square), the 同三公路零起点 (Tong-San Highway Zero-Mile Marker), and the public riverbank. Add 同江市赫哲族博物馆 (the Hezhen Museum of Tongjiang) for a total of about 3–4 hours. You do not need a scheduled boat to see the rivers converge; views from the bank change with water levels and light.

Choose your visit
The confluence and “two-color water”
The Heilongjiang and Songhua rivers meet here. Differences in water color and sediment can sometimes create visible bands, but water level, light, and weather affect whether the boundary is clear from the bank. Do not enter the water or leave open paths to look for a better angle.
The Tong-San Highway Zero-Mile Marker
The square has a monument marking the Tong-San Highway's zero-mile point and other border markers. These are landmarks at Sanjiangkou. Stay in public areas and follow access controls around boundary markers; do not cross barriers.
Hezhen Museum of Tongjiang
The museum displays fish-skin clothing and crafts and introduces traditional fishing and hunting life. On the first floor, see fish-skin clothing and household objects; the second floor has fish-skin paintings, birch-bark items, and recreated fishing and hunting scenes. Allow about 30–40 minutes for a quick visit. The museum is managed separately from the scenic area, so check that it is open before entering.
Photography by the river
Photograph the highway marker in the square and the river and shoreline from the riverside path. If the water colors are not distinct, use the river and landmarks as the main subjects. Do not go down a bank or into the water to find another angle.
For a village-based Hezhen cultural visit, see Jiejinkou Hezhen Resort.
For a city-centre customs-house and park walk, see Tongjiang Heritage Walk.
Build your day
A one-hour square visit
Walk from the entrance to Sanjiangkou Square. See the Tong-San Highway Zero-Mile Marker and border markers in the public area, then look at the river from the path. Return to the entrance the same way after taking photographs. If the riverbank is closed or access is restricted because of water levels, stay in the square.
A three-to-four-hour visit with the museum
First confirm that the museum is open, then visit 三江口广场 (Sanjiangkou Square), 同江市赫哲族博物馆 (the Hezhen Museum of Tongjiang), and the riverside path in that order. Allow about 30–60 minutes for the museum and 1–2 hours to walk through the scenic area. Adjust the stop time to the open areas and visibility that day.
Food and nearby stops
Before or after your visit, look for a Hezhen-style fish feast in Tongjiang or along the route. Options may include shengyu (刹生鱼), talaha (塔拉哈), fish-roe rice, cooked river fish, and Northeastern-style hot-pot stew. If you combine 三江口生态旅游区 (Sanjiangkou) with 街津口赫哲族旅游度假区 (Jiejinkou Hezhen Resort) or 拉哈苏苏海关旧址 (the Laha Susu Customs House Historic Site), check the drives and museum hours separately; the outdoor area and indoor museum keep different schedules.
Get there
Bus, taxi, and driving
Take bus 3 from downtown Tongjiang to 三江口站 (Sanjiangkou stop); the fare is about CNY 2. A taxi takes about 10–15 minutes and costs around CNY 15–35. If driving or hiring a car, navigate to “三江口生态旅游区 (Sanjiangkou Ecological Tourist Area),” beside 221国道 (Highway 221).
Parking and entrance
There is free parking at the scenic area. After entering, follow signs to 三江口广场 (Sanjiangkou Square) and 同江市赫哲族博物馆 (the Hezhen Museum of Tongjiang). The museum is beside the main road through the scenic area, so you do not need to drive between the two stops. Their opening hours are different.
Know before you go
Museum hours and border-area access
The Hezhen Museum of Tongjiang usually opens 09:00–17:00, but its closure days have not been confirmed. Check that it is open on the day. Around border markers, stay on public paths and do not use drones or enter managed areas.
River wind, photography, and food
The river can be windy; bring a light jacket even in summer. The “two-color water” may not be obvious in photographs, and do not take an unconfirmed boat to look for another view. A fish feast may include raw fish; choose grilled or other cooked river fish if you prefer to avoid it.
