No. 1 Bathing Beach is at 14 Nanhai Road in Shinan District. The beach is free and needs no reservation. The official bathing-beach season usually runs from July 1 to September 25, with daytime service around 09:00–18:00; the exact arrangement may change each year.
Beach access, facilities and visit length
The beach itself is open for longer, while swimming, lifeguards and changing services operate according to the season and on-site arrangements. Allow about 1 hour for the sea and photos, or 3–4 hours for sand, swimming and a coastal walk. Changing rooms and showers are paid services on site.

A gentle beach for water activities
No. 1 Bathing Beach has a relatively gentle slope and calm waves, making it suitable for family sand play, beginner swimming and brief wading. The beach is busy in summer; if you plan to swim, consider lifeguard coverage, sea conditions and the area open that day.
German-style changing rooms and sunset
The German-style changing rooms near the beach are part of the coastal architecture and make a good backdrop for vintage-style photos. The beach faces southwest, so clear evenings can offer a sea sunset. From Xiaoyushan, you can look down over the full shape of the beach and coastline.
Build your day
The approximately 1-hour short route
Leave Metro Line 3 or Line 4 at Huiquan Square Station, walk through the square to the beach, photograph the crescent-shaped shore and sea, then walk east toward the Heart Tree before leaving. This short route is for the sea and photos only; skip changing services and swimming.
The 3–4 hour beach route
Enter from the Badaguan side, walk along the beach to the open central shore, then choose swimming, sand play or rest according to the day's lifeguard coverage and sea conditions. In the evening, wait for sunset on the east side. For changing rooms, showers or rentals, follow the day's prices and clearing time.
Get there
Metro and bus
Take Metro Line 3 or Line 4 to Huiquan Square Station. Leave through Exit C, cross Huiquan Square and walk about 5 minutes to the beach. Buses also stop at “Bathing Beach” or “Huiquan Square.”
Parking and coastal walking
Traffic is heavy and parking is limited around the beach during peak periods and weekends, so public transport is easier. The beach, boardwalk and changing facilities are separated by walking; bring water, sun protection and a change of clothes when traveling with children.

Lifeguard hours and paid facilities
The beach is free. The official bathing beach usually provides daytime lifeguard service around 09:00–18:00 from July 1 to September 25. Changing rooms, showers and storage cost extra; cold or hot water, single-use service and changing passes follow the on-site arrangement.
Crowds, sun and clearing time
Crowds are usually heavier from 10:00–16:00 on weekends and holidays, and midday sunlight is strong. Changing rooms are cleaned after the daily clearing time, so check when services end before swimming or changing. Watch for jellyfish in the water and leave immediately if you feel unwell.
