Plan at a glance
A compact free viewpoint
Xiaoyushan Park is at 24 Fushan Branch Road in Shinan District. It is free, and you can enter after scanning the named-registration code at the entrance. The park usually opens 06:00–20:00. The north gate has a gentler slope and takes about 3–5 minutes to reach the summit; 30–50 minutes is enough for a short visit.
Views over Huiquan Bay and old-town roofs
The summit's Lanchao Pavilion, Bibo Pavilion and Yongcui Pavilion are the main stops, with views over Huiquan Bay, No. 1 Bathing Beach, Badaguan and Signal Hill. Xiaoyushan is especially good for the bay and near-shore buildings, while Signal Hill gives a broader old-town panorama.

Lanchao Pavilion and Bibo Pavilion
Lanchao Pavilion sits at the highest point and looks over red-tiled roofs, the bay and the coastline. Branches and pavilion structures near Bibo Pavilion create layered foregrounds for seascape photos; the round window at Yongcui Pavilion can be used as a frame.
A short stop in a coastal walk
Xiaoyushan suits photography, old-town architecture and sea-view enthusiasts. It also works as a stop on a walk around No. 1 Bathing Beach or University Road. The summit has little shade and strong midday sun; with children or anyone with limited mobility, use the short route.
Build your day
The 30–50 minute summit route
Enter through the north gate, follow the gentler path to the top, visit Lanchao Pavilion and Bibo Pavilion in sequence, then return through the north gate. For sunset, allow time to descend; the summit has no large shaded area for a long rest.
A 1.5–2 hour neighborhood walk
After climbing from the north gate, descend through the west gate or return the same way, then walk toward University Road and Yushan Road. No. 1 Bathing Beach, Badaguan and Qingdao Underwater World are nearby, but each has a different main experience rather than forming one attraction's internal route.
Get there
Metro and walking
Take Metro Line 3 to People's Hall Station or Huiquan Square Station, then walk about 8–10 minutes uphill to the park area. For a taxi, use “Xiaoyushan Park North Gate” to reach the gentler entrance.
Driving and the climb
The surrounding roads are narrow and parking is limited; traffic can be heavy in peak travel periods. The north-gate path is gentler but still includes slopes and stairs, so wear shoes with good grip.
Know before you go
Opening and registration
The park usually opens 06:00–20:00 and is free to enter after scanning the named-registration code. The summit is busy on clear evenings and holidays; weekday mornings are better for an open-looking platform.
Sun and stairs
Shade is limited at the summit, so bring sun protection and water in summer. The west gate and parts of the hill have more stairs. Visitors with limited mobility should use the gentler north-gate route and descend before dark.
