Location, entrance and tickets
Furong Ancient Village is in Furong Village, Yantou Town, Yongjia County, Wenzhou. The usual entrance is the main ticket gate at the village entrance. The village has no continuous enclosing wall, and public lanes and indoor historic buildings have different opening arrangements, so enter through the main gate and follow the day's access rules.
An adult ticket costs about CNY 20; student and senior discounts follow the applicable concession rules. A combined ticket for Furong, Cangpo and Lishui Street costs about CNY 36. The lanes usually remain accessible after 17:00, but ancestral halls and other indoor sites may already be closed. Arrive during the day if you want to see the architectural details inside.
Opening hours and suggested time
The village usually opens from 08:00 to 17:30. Allow about one hour for a quick route and 2-3 hours for a first visit. Furong works well with Lishui Street and Cangpo Ancient Village as a half-day route, but the three stops still have separate management and ticket checks.

The Seven Stars and Eight Dippers layout
Furong Village is arranged around the idea of the Seven Stars and Eight Dippers, with ponds and lanes forming the main structure. Walking along the main village route lets you see the relationship between water, lanes and residential compounds, which explains the village more clearly than viewing one ancestral hall alone.
Residents still use the village, and some old houses may not be open or fully maintained. Visitors interested in architecture, local history, ancient-village photography and slow walking can allow a longer stay. Families with children can focus on the main street, ponds and courtyards with easier access.
Furong Pond, Chen Clan Grand Ancestral Hall and Sima Residence
Furong Pond and Furong Pavilion are the main water features at the village centre. Chen Clan Grand Ancestral Hall is useful for its wood carvings, plaques and structural details. Sima Residence offers a look at the compound, courtyard well and timber construction. The village wall has a good view but requires extra steps, so do not rush the climb in wet weather.
The lanes are suitable for seeing the pond, white walls and changing light in the evening, while indoor buildings close earlier. If photography is your priority, see the indoor architecture during the day and return to the public lanes in the evening.
Build your day
A one-hour short route
Enter through the east gate or the main entrance, pass Ruyi Street, Furong Pond and Furong Pavilion, then continue to Chen Clan Grand Ancestral Hall for the architectural details before leaving by the same route. This suits visitors with limited time, those who want a basic understanding of the village layout or those continuing to Lishui Street.
The cobblestones can be slippery after rain. Avoid puddles and tight corners when taking photographs. If the indoor sites are closed that day, spend the time around the pond, lanes and village entrance instead.
A 2-3 hour complete route
For a first visit, start at the east gate and continue through Chen Clan Grand Ancestral Hall, Ruyi Street, Furong Pond, Furong Pavilion, Minglun Hall and Sima Residence. If your stamina allows, climb the village wall for a wider view before leaving through the exit. Adjust each stop according to access conditions rather than repeatedly turning back to complete every courtyard.
If you want to see the lights, entering at about 16:00 usually makes it easier to combine indoor sites with the evening street scene. Confirm when the indoor venues close that day. After 17:00, the public lanes are generally more suitable for a street walk, and not all ancestral halls or exhibition rooms can be expected to remain open.
A half-day ancient-village route
Visit Furong Ancient Village first, then walk or cycle to Lishui Street, stroll along the waterfront corridor in the evening and eat in Yantou Town. If you have enough time, put Cangpo Ancient Village earlier in the route; judge the ticket and open area for each stop separately.
With older adults or children, keep Furong Pond, Ruyi Street and one main ancestral hall. Much of the village surface is cobblestone, so check footwear and stamina before planning a long walk.
Get there
Driving
Navigate to the Furong Ancient Village car park. Parking costs about CNY 10 per day, and spaces near the entrance are usually easier to arrange than at Lishui Street. After parking, enter through the main gate and do not drive into residential lanes.
High-speed rail and bus
A taxi from Yongjia Station or Nanxi River Station takes about 30 minutes to Furong Village. You can also take a minibus toward Fenglin from Yantou Town and get off at the Furong Village intersection; check the return timetable in advance.
Walking or cycling from Furong to Lishui Street depends on the day's road conditions and the group's stamina. Do not assume that a convenient shuttle always runs between the two. Non-drivers should decide how they will leave the final attraction before setting out.
Know before you go
Indoor sites in the daytime, lanes in the evening
The lanes usually remain partly accessible after 17:00, but ancestral halls and indoor exhibition areas may have finished for the day. Put wood carvings, plaques and the interiors of the residential compounds into the daytime portion of the visit; arrive later if you only want the street scene and evening light.
Surfaces and supplies
Summer is rainy and the cobblestones become slippery. Wear flat shoes with good grip. There are few small shops inside the village, so prepare water and simple food in advance and leave a full meal for Yantou Town.
Visitor boundaries
Residents still live in the village, and public lanes, ticketed attractions and private homes have different boundaries. Stay on open roads, do not enter closed courtyards and do not use strong lights or take prolonged photographs outside homes.
